The Geography of New York
Map of the 13 colonies
Climate
The climate of the New York Colony had cold winters and hot summers. This made the climate ideal for farming. The cold winters made it more difficult for disease to thrive like it did in the Southern Colonies where it didn't get as cold in the winter. Geography As a middle colony New York is located along the Atlantic ocean. New York has diverse geography with mountains in the northeast with dense forests, lowlands from Lake Ontario along the Canadian border, and wide plains near the Atlantic Ocean with fertile soil. |
